*+* My Book List, TBR List & Book Wish List *+* - Last Updated On Wed 08/08/07First of all, what's the meaning of "TBR List"?
TBR List means "To Be Read" list...Those books that I have bought and currently inside my bookshelves waiting "to be read"...Recently i'm going crazy on books...what kinda of books? English novels like those in Romance, Chick-Lit, Horror and Thriller genre...I went to Kinokuniya in Orchard TAKA, 2nd-hand bookstores in Bras Brash Complex buying all sorts of novels that interest me..spent a bomb there =.="
I bought books from author
Sophie Kinsella (Chick-Lit),
Cecelia Ahern (Romance/Chick-Lit), Audrey Niffenegger (The Time Traveler's Wife that i have read), Stephen King (Horror), James Patterson (Thriller), J.D. Robb (Thriller) and many more....
And when i reach home, i am having a headache cause i don't know how to organize my books.
I always either misplaced it, leaving it here and there...and when i wanted to read that particular book, i got to search the whole house for it =.="
So i started to goggle for any online service that allows me to organize them...until i happens to found the "Library Thing" ( www.librarything.com ) webby from a reading forum that night...Library Thing not only allows you to create a list of books you have and it also allows you to search and fill in the information of the books automatically by searching the Library of Congress, all five national of Amazon sites, and more than 80 world libraries. You can also edit your information, search and sort it, "tag" books with your own subjects, or use the Library of Congress and Dewey systems to organize your collection or key in your own information into their database like the ISBN, Author, Date Of Publication, Pages...etc.
There are "Rating"and "Review" systems as well.
I signed up an account at Library Thing, the "Free" account allows you to catalog up to 200 books. A paid account allows you to catalog any number of books. Paid personal accounts currently cost $10 for a year or $25 for a lifetime (which i don't think i need the paid account right now, unless my book collections exceed 200...lolx). Anyway if my book collection exceeded 200, i don't mind paying for it (lifetime membership), luckily they accept PayPal =D
LibraryThing is also an amazing social space, often described as "MySpace for books" or "Facebook for books." You can check out other people's libraries, see who has the most similar library to yours, swap reading suggestions and so forth. LibraryThing also makes book recommendations based on the collective intelligence of the other libraries.
Anyway to cut the story short, i created a "Free" account there, uploaded my book collections, filled in my Profile, Book information, Comments etc...Life is now easier for me, i just need to login there, search for the book that i would like to read in my own catalog, pick up that particular book from my bookshelves and i'm ready to start my reading =D
I've also keep a note of my TBR list, Wishlist and the books I've read at LibraryThing.
