*+* Book Review *+*Honeymoon by James Patterson
Rating: 4 Stars ****Date Started: 11/08/07Date Finished: 13/08/07"A sizzling, twisting tale of a woman with a deadly appetite and the men who dare to fall for her..." - by James PattersonJames Patterson is very well-known for his thriller tales. I'm sure for those die-hard James Patterson's fans must have already read this "Honeymoon" long time ago yeah? I'm ashamed to say this is my first James Patterson read but oh well, now i know why James Patterson is so famous for his thrillers! It's a page turner with lots of great plots and twists! Once you started, you'll never want to put it down again! A sexy, exciting and fast-paced story!
The story starts off with undercover FBI agent, John O'Hara who played as a insurance agent investigating the main female character "Nora Sinclair". Nora Sinclair seems perfect, she's got the career (Interior designer), the charisma and most importantly she's got the "sex appeal"...she doesn't just attract men but she marries men for their money and kills them off by poisoning them with an omelet. She's worked hard for this life and she'll never give up...
Slowly, John O'Hara the undercover FBI agent couldn't control himself...with the "temptation" of this beautiful and sexy woman Nora Sinclair. At times, he wasn't sure whether he's pursuing justice or his own fatal obsession of this beautiful woman. As the story goes on, he starts to believe that Nora might be innocent and slowly he drop his guard against Nora and enjoyed Nora's seduction...Will he become her next victim? Will Nora ever figure out that the insurance agent she met is actually a undercover FBI agent being sent to investigate her?
The plots and the twists of this book is simply awesome! But it's kind of disappointing that James Patterson did not let us know the contents of the letter that Nora's mother (a husband-killer herself) wrote to her. And that's the reason why i gave it a "4 stars" instead of a "5 stars" rating. The ending seems abit surprising though, Nora's being poisoned by one of her victim's sister...just like the saying..."What goes around comes around"!
Nevertheless, "Honeymoon" really keeps me going chapter after chapter...It's a really fast-paced, sexy and exciting read. After reading the first page of the book, I simply couldn't put it down...and I finished it within 3 days.
If you're looking for a "True" page-turner, this is the book I'll recommend you.
I'm glad that I have picked up James Patterson's thriller "Honeymoon", and will continue to read more of his thrillers again =D

*+* Book Review *+*Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
Rating: 5 Stars *****Date Started: 08/08/07Date Finished: 10/08/07"Just a little something will do..."This sounds familiar to me too!Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella is the first book released of her "Shopaholic" series. The rest of the sequels are Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, Shopaholic Ties the Knot, Shopaholic & Sister and the latest installment is Shopaholic and Baby! In my local forums, this title has been mentioned alot alot of times! I'm not into Chick-Lit usually, but due to it's girly pink and cute cover (yes i'm a sucker for cute n nice cover!), i did a search at Amazon.
Reading the reviews there, i got to know that this book is about "Shopping" which is my favorite pastime as well! So i couldn't resist, and i added this book into my LibraryThing's Wishlist. I've actually bought the "Shopaholic Ties the Knot" before this book, but after doing some research online, i've found out that "Confessions of a Shopaholic" should be the first to read if I wanted to follow the whole series to get a "clearer" picture of the story and the characters' background. So I hold-on to the one i bought on mistake, and finally I bought this "Confessions of a Shopaholic" during my visit to Novena Square's MPH Bookstore.
And to tell you, I've never regret getting this funny and entertaining book!
It's a very hilarious and laugh-out-loud book! A book that can lighten up your mood if you're feeling down or bored. During the first 50 pages of the book, i just couldn't "get into" the story because I'm not sure whether I'm really into Chick-Lit or just buying this book for the sake of it's cute cover. But after reading and reading..I've found myself getting more and more interested of the story! The story of our heroine "Becky"! How she's going to cope with all those dismal letters from her VISA and the Endwich Bank? and so on...
The most impressive and funny part was the part where she worked as a Sales Assistant in a fashion boutique shop. She saw a pair of a zebra-print jeans which she loves so much that she's planning to get it after her work. Until a customer was queuing to try on that particular jeans that she liked, she's afraid that the customer will eventually bought it, so she actually "hide" it from that customer under the fitting room's curtain! That part really made me laugh out very loud!!! Its simply hilarious! Once you "get into" the story, you'll not want to put this book down again!
In Confessions of a Shopaholic, our heroine "Becky" also known as Miss Rebecca Bloomwood was a young twenty-five years old Financial Journalist in London. She's got a big heart, big dreams and just one little weakness...that is she cannot resist buying things once she step into a shop! Just a little something..a little something to make herself happy! Whenever she passby those trendy boutiques after work, there's always something that she "must-have". Despite receiving all those VISA's bills sent to her, she simply dump it into her dressing table's drawer without even taking a look at them. The facts was that she's not earning much with her Journalist job at Successful Saving, she can't afford them all, but she keeps on coming up with lots and lots of excuses thinking that what she have bought were all necessary. She's always dreaming of winning the lottery, or marry someone rich so that she can pay off all her bills....
This is the first book I've read by author Sophie Kinsella. It's also my first Chick-Lit book as well. After reading this book, I've totally changed my view on Chick-Lit genre. Usually I'll go for those stories that's either comes with deep plots, or mostly romance genre in particular but after reading Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic book, I'm hooked! I'm planning to get ALL her Shopaholic series once I hit the bookstore again =D
All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book. It's really reminded me of myself, because I am one that loves to shop as well but of course not as bad as our heroine "Becky"...
I would recommend this book to all the girls out there, if you happens to loves shopping just like our heroine "Becky", I'm sure you'll like this book as well =D

*+* Book Review *+*Veronika Decides To Die by Paulo Coelho
Rating: 4 Stars ****Date Started: 01/08/07Date Finished: 08/08/07"Veronika Decides To Die" sounds like a very depressing title isn't it?But it delivers a very meaningful messages within....Its written by the same Brazilian author of the International Bestseller book called "The Alchemist" (which i haven't read yet...). Honestly, this is my first Paulo Coelho's book. I have never read any of his book before in the past, but of cause i have heard many raves about his popular book "The Alchemist". That day while browsing through Popular's website i saw this book "Veronika Decides To Die" by Paulo Coelho. The title sounds rather depressing and interesting, so i searched Amazon for the reviews and gets to know that the story was about a young girl who seems to have everything, youth, beauty, boyfriends, a loving family and a fulfilling job have chosen to end her precious life...why on the earth did she want to do that? So being curious, i bought the book home from my local Popular bookstore.
It's a very "thin" book, altogether it's only 210 pages. The storyline was rather plotless, very straight forward and it's a quick and easy read...rather meaningful as well. It delivers a very meaningful message within it...It's about "Life". How one must learn to "live life to the fullest"...Making full use of our precious life...Everyday's a miracle, so enjoy it and make the best out of it...it does makes you think back, what have you achieved in your life?
The story was about a young girl named "Veronika" (age: 24) who seems to have everything, youth, beauty, boyfriends, a loving family and a fulfilling job. To her, life is rather meaningless, everything in her life was the same, and once her youth was gone, it would be downhill all the way, with old age beginning to leave irreversible marks, the onset of illness, the departure of friends. She would gain nothing by continuing to live so she decided to end her precious life by take 4 packs of sleeping pills.
She thought that she will never ever wake up again, but she does...in a mental hospital called "Villete". She was told that although she was still alive, her heart has damaged and will in fact die in a week or less. During the last 7 days of her life in the mental hospital, she met her "inmates" Eduard, Zedka, and Mari. And everyone of them has something to share with Veronika. Slowly Veronika discover that life's worth living, understanding the joy and value of life. She soon begin to appreciate her life, living her life to the fullest until the very last day of her life....
In conclusion, it's a very good book with a very meaningful message within it.
Like I said earlier, the book was rather 'thin", how i wish the story could be longer abit.
It's a simple, meaningful, "life's lesson" read...
If you're looking for a simple and meaningful read, this is the book I'll recommend you.

*+* Book Collected - Elegance by Kathleen Tessaro *+*
Elegance by Kathleen Tessaro (PaperBack)
Book Condition: 7/10
Collected On: 31/07/07
While browsing through Yahoo Auctions, I found this book called "Elegance" by Kathleen Tessaro (together with James Patterson's Violets are Blue). It's a Chick-Lit book featuring a woman called Louise Canova. About how she discovers a faded hardback copy of a book called "Elegance"(a book about Fashion..etc) in a 2nd-hand bookshop...and how her life is transformed after reading that book...
Although this book is 2nd-hand but it seems like a very interesting story, and looking at the price of only SGD $3.00, i placed a bid on it....Finally collected this book from the seller at Yishun MRT Station yesterday. =D
Heres the synopsis:
Synopsis:Audrey Hepburn had it, Grace Kelly had it. Louise Canova does not.Elegance, that is. Nor does she have the answers to get her life, her looks or her marriage back on track. Then one day she discovers a faded hardback in a second-hand bookshop.Elegance, an A-Z of style written by French fashion expert Madame Antoine Dariaux, is a revelation. From Accessories to Zippers, there is nothing that Madame cannot advise upon, including types of husband(and how to manage them) and shopping with girlfriends (don't).When Louise takes the book to heart, her life is transformed. But as her old self begins to disappear, it is clear there is more to true elegance than she bargained for.Looking the part is only the beginning."Being beautiful is no guarantee of happiness in this world...Strive instead for elegance, grace and style"Will be reading this book ASAP =P

*+* Book Review *+*The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Rating: 5 Stars *****Date Started: 22/07/07Date Finished: 30/07/07Ok...its has been so long since i last pick up a book and settle down to read...got alot of good reviews for this book in forum..so i tot well, since its so popular i might as well give it a try...and gosh the book is very thick huh? but i have got alot of time..doesn't matter to me...
Alright, heres my review regarding this book...The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.
The story started with Henry & Clare as the main characters...and Henry has got a genetic aberration that causes him to travel through time involuntarily...appearing either in the past or future completely naked. Henry first met Clare when Clare was only 6yrs old...
Henry time traveled to Clare's life when Clare was only 6yrs old, until when Clare is 20, he's 28...they eventually meet-up in "real" time. ..The love story of Henry & Clare is very touching and they truly love each other..Throughout Clare's whole life, she has been always worrying where is Henry? When will Henry come back? Shes always there waiting for Henry to come back to her in the present. (due to Henry's time traveling) They struggled through all of the problems they had with Henry's time travel...and always trying hard to lead a "normal" life like any of us.
The ending was very sad...Henry died and Clare is forever waiting for him to come back because she knows that 1 day Henry will be back again =(
Although the story is very long and at times, it was a drag...but i still managed to finish the whole book (518 pages). It's a emotional read..and I did really enjoyed it XD.
A very romantic love story of Henry & Clare...
*After i put down the book, im still thinking of Henry & Clare...What will happens to Clare without Henry by her side?
Can she carry on her life without Henry? Will Henry come back again to meet her??? T.T
Highly Recommended!

*+* My Book List, TBR List & Book Wish List *+* - Last Updated On Wed 08/08/07First of all, what's the meaning of "TBR List"?
TBR List means "To Be Read" list...Those books that I have bought and currently inside my bookshelves waiting "to be read"...Recently i'm going crazy on books...what kinda of books? English novels like those in Romance, Chick-Lit, Horror and Thriller genre...I went to Kinokuniya in Orchard TAKA, 2nd-hand bookstores in Bras Brash Complex buying all sorts of novels that interest me..spent a bomb there =.="
I bought books from author
Sophie Kinsella (Chick-Lit),
Cecelia Ahern (Romance/Chick-Lit), Audrey Niffenegger (The Time Traveler's Wife that i have read), Stephen King (Horror), James Patterson (Thriller), J.D. Robb (Thriller) and many more....
And when i reach home, i am having a headache cause i don't know how to organize my books.
I always either misplaced it, leaving it here and there...and when i wanted to read that particular book, i got to search the whole house for it =.="
So i started to goggle for any online service that allows me to organize them...until i happens to found the "Library Thing" ( www.librarything.com ) webby from a reading forum that night...Library Thing not only allows you to create a list of books you have and it also allows you to search and fill in the information of the books automatically by searching the Library of Congress, all five national of Amazon sites, and more than 80 world libraries. You can also edit your information, search and sort it, "tag" books with your own subjects, or use the Library of Congress and Dewey systems to organize your collection or key in your own information into their database like the ISBN, Author, Date Of Publication, Pages...etc.
There are "Rating"and "Review" systems as well.
I signed up an account at Library Thing, the "Free" account allows you to catalog up to 200 books. A paid account allows you to catalog any number of books. Paid personal accounts currently cost $10 for a year or $25 for a lifetime (which i don't think i need the paid account right now, unless my book collections exceed 200...lolx). Anyway if my book collection exceeded 200, i don't mind paying for it (lifetime membership), luckily they accept PayPal =D
LibraryThing is also an amazing social space, often described as "MySpace for books" or "Facebook for books." You can check out other people's libraries, see who has the most similar library to yours, swap reading suggestions and so forth. LibraryThing also makes book recommendations based on the collective intelligence of the other libraries.
Anyway to cut the story short, i created a "Free" account there, uploaded my book collections, filled in my Profile, Book information, Comments etc...Life is now easier for me, i just need to login there, search for the book that i would like to read in my own catalog, pick up that particular book from my bookshelves and i'm ready to start my reading =D
I've also keep a note of my TBR list, Wishlist and the books I've read at LibraryThing.
For those who are interested, my LibraryThing's profile and catalog will be @....*Links*AngelicTearz's LibraryThing ProfileAngelicTearz's LibraryThing Catalog
